The Wigwe family wraps up their weeklong funeral proceedings with an outing service

On Sunday, the family of the late former chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, gathered for an outing service to express gratitude to God for a successful funeral. This service marked the conclusion of a weeklong series of funeral rites that commenced on Monday, March 4.

Wigwe, along with his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi, were laid to rest on Saturday in their hometown of Omueke, Isiokpo, Rivers State. Their untimely demise occurred on February 9 in a tragic helicopter crash near Halloran Springs, California, United States, alongside former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two pilots.

Dressed in white attire, family members and attendees gathered at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lion of Judah Parish, in Isiokpo, to offer prayers and reflections. The solemn occasion followed a day of dignified tributes from notable personalities who converged in the oil-rich state to pay their respects.

Among the dignitaries present were Senate President Godswill Akpabio, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, business magnate Aliko Dangote, former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, Governors Alex Otti and Dapo Abiodun, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

Additionally, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and State Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu, who served as the chief security officer (CSO) of the burial ceremony, were also in attendance, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the outpouring of support for the bereaved family.
