Femi Otedola, Chairman of FBN Holdings, has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic passing of Herbert Wigwe, the group CEO of Access Holdings Plc.
Wigwe met his untimely demise in a helicopter crash that occurred on February 9 in the United States. The helicopter, departing from Palm Springs Airport in California and bound for Boulder City, Nevada, tragically crashed near a border town on Friday night, claiming the lives of all six passengers, including Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, their first son Chizi, and former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo.
In mourning, Otedola shared a poignant photo on social media, taken just a fortnight ago when Wigwe graciously hosted him and Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, to dinner at his newly constructed home in Lagos.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of a banking genius, Herbert Wigwe, his beloved wife Chizoba, and their cherished first son Chizi,” expressed the multibillionaire. “Exactly two weeks ago, Herbie and his wife welcomed Aliko and me into their newly built home in Lagos for a memorable dinner. I will forever cherish and hold dear the memories of the time spent with him over the years. Herbie, your absence will be profoundly felt, yet your legacy shall endure eternally.”
