Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has demonstrated his appreciation for Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s exceptional performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by presenting him with a generous gift of N20 million. The governor also hosted Nwabali and other members of the Super Eagles crew, including coach Jose Peseiro, in Rivers State on Friday, where he handed them a total sum of N30 million.

According to a statement from the governor’s media aide, Boniface Onyedi, Governor Fubara announced that Nwabali would be honored with the prestigious Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.

Governor Fubara praised the Rivers-born Nwabali for his outstanding goalkeeping skills, which significantly contributed to the Super Eagles’ success at AFCON 2023, bringing pride to Nigeria.

Furthermore, in recognition of their triumph in the Louis Edem National League competition, Governor Fubara also awarded a substantial sum of N50 million to the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Team.
