Last week, Abuja-based businesswoman Aisha Achimugu elevated the standards of celebrations by organizing an extravagant seven-day 50th birthday festivity on the Caribbean Island of Grenada.
The festivities took place at two remarkable locations – Calivigny Island and Silversand, an opulent seven-star luxury resort established five years ago at Grand Anse Beach.
Achimugu, who lost her husband Sulaiman Achimugu to COVID-19 complications in 2020, reportedly spent close to $1 million (over N1 billion) to rent the entire island for a week. The Silversands Resort’s nightly cost starts from $1,060 (N1,378,000) per person, while renting Calvigny Island ranges from $30,000 to $165,000 per night, depending on the time of year.
Guests at the celebration enjoyed a variety of activities, including kayaking, swimming, treasure hunting, bonfires, exquisite meals, music performances by renowned artists like Kenny G, Waje, Flavour, Adekunle Gold, Asake, and Mr Killa.
A dedicated website, aishaachimugu50th.com, was created for the birthday celebration, offering information on visa arrangements, standby chauffeurs, travel itineraries, and the nearest airport to the event location.
Born on January 22, 1974, Achimugu attended Federal Government Girls Science School, Kuje, Abuja, and earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Jos in 1998. She is the Managing Director/CEO of Felak Concept Group, initially an engineering firm that has diversified into maritime, consultancy, and environmental waste management, among other sectors.
Achimugu, a mother of three, is also set to host another birthday party at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Friday, January 26, at 6 pm, followed by a dinner party at the International Conference Centre the next day from 8:30 pm.
