Dunamis International Gospel Centre made clarifications on Monday regarding a recent incident involving its senior pastor, Paul Enenche, and a woman named Vera Anyim who gave a testimony during a church service.
Anyim’s testimony on Sunday highlighted her achievement of becoming the first graduate in her family, earning a bachelor of science degree in law from the National Open University of Nigeria. However, Pastor Enenche interrupted her testimony, casting doubt on its authenticity.
The church later issued a statement signed by Enenche’s personal assistant, Sylvester Edoh, explaining the pastor’s reaction. According to the statement, Enenche’s concern stemmed from several factors, including the quality of Anyim’s spoken English, the duration of her supposed law studies, and the ambiguity surrounding her degree.
Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that Anyim indeed graduated from a university. The church emphasized that the interruption was not intended to embarrass Anyim but was motivated by a commitment to excellence and truthfulness.
The statement reiterated the church’s dedication to upholding standards of excellence and truth while expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to Anyim. It emphasized that Pastor Enenche had personally reached out to her to address the situation.
Furthermore, Dunamis International Gospel Centre assured Anyim of its support for her physical and spiritual well-being, reaffirming its commitment to her growth and welfare within the church community.
