Rapper Odomodublvck has come to the defense of Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), against critics who slammed Adeboye for suggesting that Nigeria’s challenges require spiritual intervention.
Adeboye’s remarks were made during his visit to Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, as part of an RCCG crusade in the state. He emphasized that the nation’s issues go beyond politics and necessitate spiritual remedies.
However, his statement faced backlash from some quarters, with critics arguing that Nigeria needs practical policies rather than prayers. Some even questioned Adeboye’s authenticity as a religious leader.
In a move to support Adeboye, Odomodublvck took to his X account in the early hours of Monday, urging people not to insult the cleric on social media. Drawing a comparison with Islamic clerics, he highlighted that Muslims don’t publicly denigrate their religious leaders.
The 30-year-old rapper emphasized the importance of respecting elders, noting that Adeboye is older than many people’s parents. He criticized the double standards evident in the online criticism, asserting that such behavior is disrespectful and unwarranted.
“Pastor Adeboye never insulted no one on this app. You do not see Muslims come out to insult their clerics,” he wrote.
“Then later we complain that our religion is being stepped on.
“Even based on age wise. Una no fit follow una papa talk the way una follow Adeboye talk
“And he senior papa and una mama. Thats why I never rated you nig**s on this app. Una double standards choke,” he wrote.
