Gospel sensation Mercy Chinwo took center stage on Saturday, delivering a heartfelt worship session at the funeral service of renowned banker Herbert Wigwe, his beloved wife, and son.
With her soul-stirring renditions of her popular hits and touching Christian hymns like ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness’, Mercy Chinwo moved guests to tears, offering solace and spiritual comfort during the solemn occasion.
The funeral service took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, where mourners gathered to pay their last respects. Following the service, the bodies were laid to rest in a private mausoleum around 2.45 pm.
The arrival of the remains, transported in separate vehicles, marked the beginning of the ceremony, with the church premises witnessing a solemn procession at precisely 11 am.
The funeral rites, which commenced on Monday, March 4, 2024, will conclude on Sunday, March 10, with an outing service.
Dignitaries from various spheres of life graced the occasion, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, business mogul Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, and Governors Siminalayi Fubara, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Dapo Abiodun. Also in attendance were prominent figures such as Aliko Dangote, Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, among others, who came to pay their respects and honor the memory of the departed souls.
