Kharkiv in Ukraine witnesses at least 17 injuries following missile strikes by Russia

The governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, confirmed the missile hits and the subsequent hospitalization of 14 individuals, with two women in critical condition.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov emphasized that the missiles targeted civilian areas devoid of military infrastructure, damaging at least 10 buildings. Emergency Services reported that one missile hit a three-story building that previously housed a medical center.

The city, located near the Russian border, has faced ongoing attacks since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed the destruction of seven Ukrainian missiles and four drones in its Belgorod region, around 80km from Kharkiv.

The governor of the affected region reported no immediate casualties from the Russian counteraction. Despite initial gains by Russian forces in the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian forces successfully pushed them back in a swift advance in September 2022.
