United States President Joe Biden has firmly stated that nothing will compel him to consider stepping down from the presidential race, despite recent criticisms and concerns about his performance and health.
Following a debated performance against former President Donald Trump on June 27, Biden faced calls from some voters, analysts, and stakeholders to reconsider his candidacy.
In an interview with ABC News on Friday, Biden addressed these concerns, emphasizing that only a divine intervention would prompt him to withdraw from seeking re-election.
“If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race’, I would get outta the race. The Lord Almighty’s not coming down. I mean, these hypotheticals,” Biden remarked.
He confidently defended his candidacy, asserting, “I don’t think anybody is more qualified to be president or win this race than me. Look, I’m running again because I think I understand best what has to be done to take this nation to a completely new level. We are on our way. We are on our way.”
Addressing criticisms about his age and fitness for office, Biden challenged his detractors by pointing to his record of achievements.
“I see all these stories that say I am too old.. was I too old to create 15 million jobs? Was I too old to erase student debt for five million Americans? Do you think I’m too old to beat Donald Trump?” he questioned.
Biden’s resolute stance underscores his determination to continue pursuing the presidency and his belief in his ability to lead the nation forward.
