Federal High Court to commence vacation on July 23

Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, has announced the schedule for the 2024 Annual Vacation and the Roster for Vacation Judges.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Assistant Director of Information and ICT, Catherine Christopher, Justice Tsoho detailed that the 2024 vacation will commence on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, and conclude on Friday, September 13, 2024. Court sittings are set to resume on Monday, September 16, 2024. This schedule aligns with Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019.

Justice Tsoho emphasized the importance of this break, noting that it allows judges to enjoy a well-deserved rest and to prepare for the upcoming New Legal Year. During this period, litigants are encouraged to approach the functional courts in the three premier divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—for matters of extreme urgency.

For the duration of the vacation, Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Peter O. Lifu will manage urgent cases at the Federal High Court in Abuja. In Lagos, Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu will be available. Meanwhile, in Port Harcourt, Justice A. T. Mohammed and Justice P. M. Ayua will handle litigation matters.
