President Bola Tinubu has initiated an inquiry into the transfer of N585 million to a private account following a request by Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The revelation was made by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, in a statement released on Sunday.

In a leaked memo, Edu had instructed Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), to transfer the mentioned sum to Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola. Despite the AGF denying the execution of the instruction, Rasheed Zubair, the media aide to the minister, insisted that the request followed due process.
