A funeral for the former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, will start on Thursday, February 15th. The family announced that they would hold a ‘winning soul crusade’ at MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure, the capital of the state. The event will begin at 5 pm.
Akeredolu passed away in his sleep at a hospital in Germany on December 26, 2023, where he was receiving treatment for prostate cancer. His family expressed deep sorrow over the loss but found comfort in his remarkable legacy.
They praised Akeredolu for his courage in confronting the insecurity issues faced by the southwest region, especially the challenges posed by killer herdsmen. Despite his passing, they vowed to honor his memory and continue his good work.
The family announced that Akeredolu would be laid to rest in his hometown of Owo on February 23, 2024.
