The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has introduced a new app for its Emmanuel TV cable channel on the Android platform. The announcement was made on the church’s Facebook page on Sunday, January 28, less than two weeks after the cable channel ceased airing on Multichoice’s DStv and GOtv platforms.

According to the church’s statement, “The New Emmanuel TV Android App is now available to be downloaded from the Emmanuel.TV website (https://emmanuel.tv/tv-guide/) for any Android Smartphone. For Samsung Galaxy Phone users, we advise you to download the New Emmanuel TV Android App in the Samsung Galaxy Store (https://galaxy.store/etv).”

The post further mentions, “You can also download the New Emmanuel TV Android App from the Amazon Appstore App for Android.”

This move represents a significant step for SCOAN in response to the removal of its cable channel, which started in 2006, from all pay-TV platforms. The church initially announced the departure of Emmanuel TV from DStv and GOtv on December 26, 2023, via social media. The statement mentioned that the channel would no longer air on these platforms from January 17, 2024, at 10:59 pm GMT +1, and subsequently on all other pay cable TV platforms.

While the reasons for this decision were not provided by SCOAN, it was reported earlier that Multichoice had informed Emmanuel TV in August 2023 that the channel would be removed from its platforms if viewership figures did not improve. Despite a 90-day improvement target, viewership did not increase, leading to the discontinuation of the channel on January 17, 2024.
