Calls for the resignation of Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu have surged amidst the ongoing struggle with erratic electricity supply across Nigeria. Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) shed light on the issue, attributing the dismal situation to a shortage in grid allocation due to gas deficiencies impacting generating companies.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, the EEDC addressed its customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the limited supply and assured ongoing efforts with partners to resolve the matter promptly. They appealed for understanding during this challenging period.
The persistent power crisis has exacerbated the hardships faced by Nigerians, already burdened by inflation and a weakened purchasing power of the naira. Frustrated citizens have taken to social media platform X to express their discontent, with many insisting that Adelabu should step down if he cannot effectively address the power challenges.
Below are some of their comments:
In a sane country, that guy called Bayo Adelabu would have lost his job. How can you be totally stiff and unproductive??
Your tenure has thrown the whole country into darkness and nothing has come out from your mouth. We used to have at least, 15 hours daily. It’s now 4 in 2 days

It is my firm belief that the time has come for Bayo Adelabu to consider stepping down from his role as Minister of Power. The state of electricity in Nigeria has deteriorated significantly, and the lack of tangible solutions is deeply concerning. As Nigerians, we are weary of…
