“I was going through depression but I want to believe that God had gone ahead of you even in those days and used you as a vessel to save me through a trending song even though it was secular and not gospel. This might sound strange because it is a secular song but God used it to distract me from taking my own life!”
Shoggy on Be Inspired With Shoggy Shoggz whilst interviewing Chevelle Franklyn

Whilst Shoggy Shoggz was interviewing Jamaican reggae and gospel reggae singer – Chevelle Franklyn, he paused to share an exclusive testimony on how God used Chevelle in saving him from depression in 1992.

These were his exact words to Chevelle on his multi award winning syndicated radio show dubbed, Be Inspired With Shoggy Shoggz:

“God used you in 1992/93 whilst I was in University back in Nigeria to save me from deep depression and suicide in an unusual way. This was during the time that Mr Loverman a song by Jamaican dancehall artist Shabba Ranks featuring yourself was released by Epic Records. It reached number 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart, as well as becoming a top-20 hit in France, Germany and Ireland.

“I never knew until recent times that you were the one on the hook”, Shoggy stated. “I was going through depression but I want to believe that God had gone ahead of you even in those days and used you as a vessel to save me through a trending song even though it was secular and not gospel. This might sound strange because it is a secular song but God used it to distract me from taking my own life!”

All Chevelle could muster was, ‘WOW! She carried on saying, ‘It was very obvious on my journey from when I was born that God was with me. I could feel this even in the midst of the most difficult situations and literally hear Him speaking to me in the night clubs. Obviously He is omnipotent and omnipresent. He appears anywhere! God was there with me and that shows how much He loves me as He never left me or forsook me even when I turned my back to Him.”
