Emmanuel TV, the esteemed broadcast channel of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) established by the late Prophet TB Joshua, marked a significant milestone on Friday, March 8, as it reached the remarkable age of 18.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate, SCOAN extended its heartfelt gratitude to God and its cherished partners for the unwavering support that has propelled the channel to its current success.
The celebratory post exuded joy, stating, “Hurrah – Emmanuel TV turns 18 years old! Truly, it’s a testament to the divine! The Almighty has undoubtedly worked wonders through you, our beloved viewers and partners, who have stood by us through every season of our journey!”
“On this special occasion of Emmanuel’s 18th anniversary, our esteemed leader, Pastor Evelyn Joshua, extends our collective appreciation to you for your steadfast support and unwavering commitment! May your selfless dedication yield abundant blessings, in the name of Jesus!”
Over the years, Emmanuel TV has seamlessly transitioned from traditional pay TV broadcast to a thriving online platform. On January 28, 2024, SCOAN introduced an Android app for Emmanuel TV, offering viewers greater accessibility to its enlightening content.
This development followed the cessation of the channel’s airing on Multichoice’s pay TV platforms, DStv and GOtv, due to reported low viewership. While the exact reason for discontinuation remained undisclosed, it was widely speculated that poor viewership prompted Multichoice’s decision.
Shortly after, on January 29, YouTube suspended Emmanuel TV, citing violations of its hate speech policies. This decision coincided with the release of a documentary by the BBC in collaboration with openDemocracy, featuring former disciples of Joshua making various allegations against him, including rape, forced abortion, staged miracles, and torture.
This year’s anniversary holds particular significance as it marks the third celebration of Emmanuel TV since its inception in 2006 without the presence of Joshua, who passed away on June 5, 2021. Despite the absence of its visionary founder, Emmanuel TV continues to inspire, uplift, and impact lives across the globe, carrying forward his legacy of compassion, faith, and empowerment.
