Emeka Rollas, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has clarified that Prince Onyenwere, the Nollywood costumier accused of raping a 10-year-old girl, is not affiliated with the guild.
Responding to inquiries from followers on Instagram regarding AGN’s response to the allegations against Prince, Emeka Rollas emphasized that neither the accused nor the victim are AGN members. He further noted that the parents of the girl withdrew the case themselves.
In his post, Emeka stated, “They are not members of my Guild please. You guys should stop. We took the guy to the police and the little girl’s parents withdrew the case themselves, so what should AGN do?”
The incident involving Prince garnered attention in January after he was reportedly assaulted for allegedly abusing the girl on a movie set. However, he was later released by the police, prompting discussions on social media.
In a statement issued on Saturday, police spokesperson Bright Edafe revealed that the “mother of the victim compounded the entire case, stating that she and her family have forgiven the suspect.” The mother also declined to appear with her daughter, leading to the suspect’s release.
