The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a firm response to the remarks made by Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), regarding Anambra State’s political affiliation with APGA.

In a swift retort to Ganduje’s comments, Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, emphasized that despite being a minority party, Anambra has outperformed many states purportedly connected to the center.

Ganduje had voiced his opinion during the South-East APC colloquium in Nnewi, Anambra State, suggesting that the state’s failure to align with the center through APGA has hindered its progress. He also pointed out the trend of former Anambra governors defecting from APGA after their tenures.

However, Opara fired back, drawing attention to Ganduje’s governance in Kano, which ultimately led to the people’s rejection of APC in the state during the 2023 elections. He underscored the importance of understanding why Kano opted to disconnect from the APC-led center after Ganduje’s tenure.

Asserting APGA’s significance in Anambra, Opara highlighted the party’s performance-based governance and the state’s track record of progressive growth under successive APGA administrations. He cited numerous accolades received by Anambra, including recognition for outstanding ICT deployment and the lowest rate of out-of-school children.

Opara also criticized the APC for turning the colloquium organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah into a political rally and conducting a primary election, where Ubah was declared the party’s candidate for the upcoming election.

In conclusion, Opara reaffirmed Anambra’s commitment to APGA, emphasizing that the state will remain disconnected from the center if it means continuing on the path of progressive development and good governance.
