Abia police verify the death of a 57-year-old man by his son

Abia Police Command has confirmed a tragic incident involving the killing of a 57-year-old man, Mmaduka Ogbonna, by his 27-year-old son, Chinalu Ogbonna, in Amuzukwu, Umuahia North LGA.

According to ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, the report was received at CPS Umuahia on Tuesday morning. Detectives visited the crime scene and discovered the lifeless body of the deceased with his left eye gouged out.

Chinalu Ogbonna, who resides with his father, was swiftly apprehended. Initial investigations suggest that he strangled his father with the intention of using his left eye for money rituals.

The suspect’s arrest led to the recovery of crucial evidence, and the victim’s body was taken to the morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a community source revealed that Chinalu Ogbonna had a history of drug involvement, despite being his father’s favorite and receiving considerable protection from him.

In a separate incident, the Plateau State Police Command arrested Joseph Yakubu, 29, for allegedly killing his father, Yakubu Dalyop, with a pestle.
