Former Abia Governor and Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu is fully aware of the hunger crisis in Nigeria and is actively taking decisive actions to address it. Kalu made the statement on Thursday during a New Year visit to his ‘political son,’ Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State, at Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area.

Kalu emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to reversing the current hardships, urging Nigerians to be patient and supportive of the bold economic decisions being made.

“The President is making difficult choices focused on economic growth,” Kalu remarked, acknowledging the boldness of Tinubu’s approach. “I may not have the courage to make such decisions, but he is clearly telling Nigerians that we need to start anew.”

Despite the challenging circumstances, Kalu admitted to feeling personally saddened by the situation but reassured Nigerians that better days are ahead.

“We will soon witness the brighter future that awaits us,” he said optimistically.

Kalu also highlighted that his visit to Okoro-Emegha was a longstanding tradition, underscoring the importance of strengthening their bond. “I promised Okoro-Emegha that as long as we have life, I will continue to make this New Year visit,” he added.

In response, Okoro-Emegha thanked Kalu for the visit, affirming that their relationship would only continue to grow stronger.

It is worth noting that Okoro-Emegha served as an aide to Kalu during his tenure as Abia Governor from 1999 to 2007, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.
