Tokunbo Afikuyomi and wife celebrate son’s 30th birthday

Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi and his wife Modupe have penned a heartfelt note in celebration of their son Tokunbo Jnr’s 30th birthday.

In the note shared with YEPSNG on Tuesday, the proud parents highlighted the exceptional qualities that define their son as a “remarkable man.”

“From a young age, you exhibited a dedication to your studies that set you apart,” they wrote. “Achieving a First-Class degree in Economics and completing a Master’s Degree at the London School of Economics (LSE) showcased your hard work and intellectual prowess. Now, as you near the completion of your PhD, you continue to amaze us with your commitment to academic excellence. Your role as a lecturer at the prestigious University of Bristol and your former position as Editor-in-Chief of the renowned business data magazine, Stears, highlight your brilliance and leadership, inspiring countless others.”

They continued, “Beyond your academic and professional achievements, we are most proud of the kind, compassionate, and loyal person you have become. As a role model to the younger generation, you embody the values of integrity, perseverance, and excellence, inspiring many to follow in your footsteps.”

Describing Tokunbo Jnr as the family’s shining star and a beacon of hope for the future, the former lawmaker and his wife expressed their confidence in his continued success and positive impact on the world stage.

“We commend you for your outstanding achievements in your previous roles, including your work as an economist with the British Government’s Department for International Trade (DIT), your role as a Treasury Summer Analyst at Barclays Bank in London, and your consulting contributions to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other organizations,” they added.

They also reflected on his early years, recalling how he was born into exile and welcomed by prominent Nigerian democracy activists. “We express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who played a crucial role in your upbringing, along with Pa Enahoro, General Akinrinade, and other NADECO leaders. Their guidance and the principles of democracy they instilled in you from a young age have undoubtedly contributed to the exceptional person you have become.”
