President Bola Tinubu has urged the country’s security chiefs to secure a decisive victory against the various security threats facing Nigeria.
In a Presidential Security Briefing at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the importance of eliminating security threats across multiple fronts for the benefit of all Nigerians. He underscored the need for increased efforts by the Navy and sister branches, emphasizing that those opposing the national agenda will face justice. Tinubu commended progress in addressing security challenges but warned against avoidable errors, citing recent incidents in Kaduna as unacceptable.
Tinubu highlighted the importance of investments in soft and physical infrastructure, social security, and MSME empowerment. He stressed the pursuit of a $1 trillion economy in the coming years and urged a comprehensive effort to eradicate enemies of progress. The President acknowledged the armed forces’ success but called for sustained coordination to bring troops back to their localities and allocate resources for economic expansion. Tinubu set a goal for the armed forces to ensure the nation produces two million barrels of crude oil per day by the first quarter of 2024.
During the decoration ceremony for promoted officers, including Air Vice Marshal Olayinka Olusola Oyesola, Brigadier-General Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Usman Musa Shugaba, Tinubu praised their dedication and commitment.
He highlighted their loyalty and service to the country, emphasizing that Nigeria recognizes their contributions. The newly promoted officers expressed gratitude for the promotions and reassured the President of their continued loyalty and commitment to duty. The event was attended by top officials, including the Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Inspector General of Police, National Security Adviser, and other presidential aides.
