President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic air accident in Washington, D.C., which claimed at least 18 lives.
Report gathered by YEPS News confirms that a passenger jet carrying 64 people crashed into the Potomac River on Wednesday night after a midair collision with a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport.
The accident, which occurred around 9 PM local time, left 18 dead and several others injured. The Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft, operated by an American Airlines subsidiary, was en route from Wichita, Kansas, to Reagan National Airport when it collided with a US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.
Reacting to the tragedy, Tinubu expressed his condolences, stating:
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Washington, D.C. On behalf of Nigeria, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of the United States, and all affected by this profound loss.
