TikTok personality Murja Ibrahim Kunya found herself in the spotlight once again as a Shari’a Court in Kano ordered her remand in a correctional facility for one week on charges of alleged immorality.
Kunya, who had been apprehended by the Kano State Hisbah Board, maintained her innocence during her arraignment before the court.
Despite pleas from her legal counsel, Aliyu Umar, for bail citing constitutional provisions, the court, presided over by Justice Nura Ahmed, ruled to remand Kunya until February 20, 2024.
Notably, this incident follows an earlier invitation by the Hisbah Board to Kunya and fellow female TikTokers in Kano, offering rehabilitation and empowerment initiatives such as business support and scholarships.
