Edo State Police Command reportedly detained Cynthia Morgan, the renowned singer, for allegedly cyberstalking Benin’s crown prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare. The arrest, which took place on Monday, stems from accusations of Morgan harassing the prince since 2020, claiming he appeared in her dreams.
The news surfaced via an Instagram post by @Edopride, an Edo-based blogger, who shared a video of Morgan being escorted into a car from her residence. Attached was a copy of the prince’s petition to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, citing “Defamation, cyberstalking, and harassment” by Morgan.
In the petition, the prince’s legal representatives detailed Morgan’s alleged actions, including physical tracking and defamatory statements on social media. Despite warnings, Morgan purportedly persisted, prompting the prince to seek legal recourse to protect his privacy.
However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, refrained from confirming the arrest, stating a lack of briefing on the matter.
Meanwhile, Morgan refuted claims of intimacy with the prince and vowed to address the situation formally. Ewuare, on the other hand, indicated readiness to pursue legal action, signaling a potential legal confrontation.
As the saga unfolds, both parties prepare for a legal showdown, with Morgan expressing regret over her past discretion and asserting her determination to share her side of the story.
