A 26-year-old man, Abuchi Omah, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Tuesday, facing charges related to an alleged N3,805,000 fraud.
Omah, whose address remains undisclosed, was charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences, and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutor Inspector Olalekan Adegbite informed the court that Omah allegedly committed these offences between October 2023 and November 30, 2023, at the POWA Shopping Complex in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
According to Adegbite, Omah deceitfully obtained the sum from Kennedy Imo, promising to deliver 1,450 cartons of ceramic tiles. Additionally, Omah reportedly collected N100,000 for transportation costs but failed to supply the tiles, instead converting the money to personal use.
These actions, Adegbite noted, contravene Sections 516, 419, and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho granted Omah bail set at N1 million, with two sureties of equal amount. One surety must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned to June 26 for further hearing.
