On Tuesday, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, commemorated the first posthumous birthday of his late mother, Hilda Adefarasin, who passed away on January 5, 2023. A nurse and women’s rights activist, Mrs. Adefarasin (nee Petgrave) had a remarkable life, living to the age of 98.
Pastor Adefarasin took to Instagram to express his sentiments, emphasizing that even though his mother is no longer physically present, the family holds dear the cherished memories of her. In his post, he reflected on her role as a guiding light, describing her as a solid rock in their clan who lived a life of grace, wisdom, and unconditional love. He highlighted her accomplishments and the enduring impact of her compassionate heart on those who knew her well. Despite being strict as a disciplinarian, she was profoundly wise, gentle, and kind.
As they commemorated her posthumous birthday, Pastor Adefarasin shared that they treasure the memories of her enduring love and the value judgments she instilled in the family. The lessons she imparted to her descendants continue to shape their journeys.

Mrs. Adefarasin was laid to rest on March 17, 2023, following a funeral service at Guiding Light Assembly in Ikoyi, Lagos. The service of songs and night of tributes took place at the Rock Cathedral in Lekki, Lagos.
