The Osun State House of Assembly confirmed the appointments of Wale Abbas as Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Board and Adekunle Omoyele as Corps Commander on Tuesday.

These confirmations followed the nominations by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who had forwarded their names to the House on July 5 for legislative approval.

Olamide Tiamiyu, Chief Press Secretary to Speaker Adewale Egbedun, stated that the confirmations are aimed at bolstering the state’s security infrastructure.

“The House of Assembly has confirmed Wale Abbas, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, as the Chairman of the Amotekun Governing Board. Additionally, Adekunle Omoyele has been confirmed as the Corps Commander,” the statement read.

The confirmations were granted after thorough screening of the nominees by the lawmakers on July 16, 2024, allowing the House to evaluate their qualifications and suitability for their roles.

Following the confirmation, Speaker Egbedun congratulated the appointees, urging them to use their extensive experience to enhance security across Osun State.
