The Progressive Frontliners, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has outlined reasons for advocating that the party’s governorship ticket for the 2026 election be zoned to the Osun West Senatorial District.

At a press briefing in Osogbo, the state capital, Ajijola Ayodeji, the group’s Coordinator, emphasized that the move is intended to rectify the existing imbalance in the state’s leadership distribution and enhance party membership.

Ayodeji explained, “Zoning the ticket to Osun West will help correct this imbalance and promote a sense of inclusivity. It will enable the region to actively participate in and contribute to the state’s progress alongside other districts.”

He further stated that from an electoral strategy perspective, zoning the ticket to Osun West would energize the party’s base, galvanizing both loyal party members and local communities.

“This decision would send a clear message that the APC values all regions within the state equally, which will generate widespread support and enthusiasm, essential for a successful election result,” Ayodeji added.

The Coordinator also highlighted the value of Osun West leaders, noting that they bring fresh ideas and perspectives that strengthen the party’s policies and initiatives, fostering innovation and growth.

“Osun West is home to individuals with exceptional leadership qualities, integrity, and dedication. These leaders have proven their worth in various roles and are well-positioned to offer dynamic leadership that appeals to both grassroots supporters and intellectuals alike,” Ajibola remarked.

He further pointed out that zoning the ticket to Osun West aligns with the core principles of the APC’s founding vision, emphasizing fairness, unity, and national cohesion.

“This move would resonate with the wider electorate, signaling our commitment to balanced development and equal participation across all regions,” Ayodeji concluded.
