Netflix has unveiled the much-anticipated trailer for filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s upcoming series, “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.”
The trailer, released on Netflix’s official Instagram account, announced the series’ premiere on March 1.
The one-minute clip teases a gripping storyline centered around the lead character Saro and the challenges he faces after being presumed dead.
A sequel to the 2022 film “Anikulapo,” the series features a stellar cast, including Sola Sowobale, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Owobo Ogunde, Gabriel Afolayan, Lateef Adedimeji, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Uzee Usman, Jide Kosoko, Oyinda Sanni, and Taiwo Hassan. In a 2022 interview, Kunle Afolayan expressed his belief that “Anikulapo” would surpass the success of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
The film garnered 16 nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and secured five awards, including Best Overall Movie. Distributed by Netflix, “Anikulapo” boasts an IMDb rating of 5.5.
