The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with separate incidents involving abduction, defilement, and phone theft. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, detailed the arrests in a statement released Wednesday.
Ayomide Jinaidu was arrested in the Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
YEPS News gathered from the police report that the victim was en route to school when Jinaidu allegedly lured her to his residence and held her captive for approximately five days, subjecting her to sexual harassment.
Jinaidu has reportedly confessed to the crime. In a separate incident, police acting on a tip-off arrested Miracle Peter at Fayose Market in Ado Ekiti. Peter, described as a habitual phone thief, was allegedly attempting to sell three stolen phones. He confessed to stealing the devices in Ifaki-Ekiti. One victim has been identified and reunited with their phone, while efforts are underway to locate the other owners.
Amidst a rise in gender-based violence in the state, Abutu urged parents and guardians to caution their children about potential dangers and encouraged victims to report such incidents immediately.
