Former Rivers South East Senator, Magnus Abe, has responded to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urging him not to single out Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for engaging in anti-party activities, as he claims the three of them were all involved.

Abe made the statement on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, hosted by Wike. His comments came after Wike criticized Fubara and former Governor Peter Odili, accusing them of anti-party actions.

Abe clarified, “Politicians act in pursuit of their political interests, and we all do that. The people now supporting Fubara aren’t doing so because they love him or the state, but because of their political interests.”

He continued, addressing the issue of anti-party activities: “I too engaged in anti-party actions when I worked against the SDP’s candidate. You (Wike) also engaged in anti-party actions when you worked against PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. And Fubara, now governor, did the same when he worked with you and against Atiku.”

Abe added that those supporting Fubara now are doing so primarily because he is the sitting governor, emphasizing the political motivations behind such alliances.

Earlier, Wike responded to allegations from Odili, who accused him of turning the state’s resources into his personal estate during his tenure as governor. Wike denied the claims, stating, “Those making these allegations have their children serving as commissioners. But has any of my children ever been appointed as one?”

He further defended his actions, asserting, “I never turned the state into my personal property. Ironically, those who now claim to be the state’s elders were the same people who opposed Fubara’s rise to the governorship. I stood firm then, but now they are the ones traveling around calling themselves elders.”
