Traditional leaders from the Lake Chad Basin nations—Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, and the Republic of Niger—have pledged to address the persistent insecurity plaguing the region.

During a meeting that commenced on Monday in Maiduguri, Borno State, the rulers voiced their concerns about the escalating violence, which has displaced countless families and claimed many lives.

Mamman Nuhu, Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Head of Mission for the Multinational Joint Task Force, emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers in the fight against insecurity.
