The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, Lagos, has announced a significant revenue collection of N107.1 billion in 2024.
Report gathered by YEPS News indicates that this figure represents a 101% increase compared to the N53.4 billion collected during the same period in 2023.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Joy Edeldouk, attributed the impressive revenue growth to strategic measures aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening compliance, and optimizing collection processes.
“The command collected N107.1bn as revenue in 2024. When compared to N53.4bn collected in 2023, this reflects a 101% surge in revenue,” Edeldouk stated.
Factors Driving Revenue Growth
The CAC highlighted several key factors responsible for the command’s success, including:
- Streamlined operational processes to enhance efficiency.
- Technology-driven approaches to improve revenue collection.
- Enhanced stakeholder engagement to facilitate legitimate trade.
- Data analytics and intelligence gathering to combat smuggling, fraud, and other customs offenses.
- Regular training and development programs to improve officers’ skills and professionalism.
- Strong collaboration with importers, sister agencies, and stakeholders to promote compliance.
Officers’ Promotion and Recognition
YEPS News reports that in addition to the revenue milestone, the command also decorated 37 newly promoted officers in recognition of their dedication and contributions.
Addressing the officers, Edeldouk expressed pride in their commitment and urged them to continue upholding professionalism and excellence in service.
“I want to say how proud I am of each and every one of you. Your commitment to excellence, passion for your work, and willingness to go above and beyond have not gone unnoticed,” she stated.
