Nigerian actress Jemima Osunde has shared details of a challenging health journey stemming from an incident on a film set three years ago, where she consumed contaminated food.
In a candid post on X.com on Thursday, Osunde revealed she contracted Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a stomach-infecting bacterium, after eating the food provided during production. This infection led to her developing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition that has significantly impacted her life.
Reflecting on the ordeal, the actress wrote, “I’ve never regretted anything as much as taking that job and traveling with them to Ibadan to shoot under their care. Got H. pylori from set food, and the resulting GERD has had me fighting for my life over the last three years.”
Osunde described the severity of her struggles, explaining that her gastrointestinal issues have become a constant source of distress. “The past month has really been something. Sigh. My own stomach is my greatest enemy. Actually, my entire gastrointestinal tract (GIT),” she lamented.
Her revelation sheds light on the importance of proper food safety measures in work environments, especially in industries like filmmaking, where cast and crew often rely on provided meals.
