The community of Issele-Azagba in Delta State is reeling from the gruesome murder of prominent businessman and APC stalwart, Sir Paul Ofor, who was killed on December 10th, 2024.
At a press conference, community leaders, including traditional rulers and youth representatives, expressed deep shock and outrage over the incident, which occurred at Ofor’s business office along the Benin-Asaba Expressway.
Elder Patrick Isichei, National President of the Issele-Azagba Development Union (IADU), described the killing as “unprecedented and deeply disturbing.” He emphasized that Ofor was a respected member of the community, known for his peaceful nature and contributions to the community’s development.
“The entire community is living in fear and mourning,” Isichei stated. “The festive spirit of Christmas was dampened by this tragic event, and the usual vibrancy of our town has been replaced by a sense of unease.”
The IADU, on behalf of the entire community, issued a strong appeal to the Delta State government, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Security (DSS), and other security agencies to expedite investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Three weeks have passed, and we have seen little visible progress in the investigation,” Isichei lamented. “This inaction is unacceptable and deeply concerning for the safety and well-being of our community.”
The community leaders also called upon local government officials and elected representatives to visit the community and offer their support during this difficult time.
