Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has put an end to the swirling rumors suggesting a fallout with her ‘protégé’, actor Tobi Makinde.
Speculations had been rife, insinuating a discord between the two, fueled by Tobi’s expressed interest in collaborating with other filmmakers beyond Funke, whom he often hailed as his mentor. Some even claimed that their co-direction of the movie “Battle on Buka Street” led to their separation due to disagreements.
However, Funke decisively quashed these rumors on Sunday, taking to her Instagram to celebrate Tobi’s portrayal of Shina, one of the sons in her latest film “A Tribe Called Judah.”
In a heartwarming Instagram reel, the 46-year-old actress showered praise on Tobi’s character, showcasing her admiration for his performance.
Tobi, reacting in the comment section, playfully remarked, “Alright, you great storytellers, come through!!!! @_atribecalledjudah is still showing!!! Go and see it now. Don’t let anyone spoil the storyline for you.”
Fans flooded the comment section, expressing their joy over Funke’s acknowledgment of Tobi. One fan, Retha_theDiva, exclaimed, “So happy you posted this guy, please don’t fight!” while another named Wurah added, “I’ve been waiting for this…awwww.”
Tobi Makinde gained prominence for his role as Timini in Funke Akindele’s acclaimed series “Jenifa’s Diary.” In a 2023 interview with Bella Naija, the 35-year-old actor spoke glowingly about his relationship with Funke, describing it as “amazing” and expressing gratitude for the invaluable lessons learned from her vast expertise in filmmaking and marketing.
