Four kidnapped after gunmen raid Chikakore area of Kubwa in Abuja

Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, launched an attack on the Chikakore area of Kubwa in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory during the early hours of Monday.

Sources confirmed to YEPS News that at least four residents were abducted in the course of the attack.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants arrived in large numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, causing panic among the community members.

A local security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the abductions, stating, “The attack took place this morning, and so far, we have been able to confirm the abduction of four people.”

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the police command, also confirmed the incident, revealing that the kidnappers disguised themselves as vigilante members.

She reported that the four kidnapped individuals were from the same family, and a neighbor who attempted to intervene sustained injuries.

Adeh explained, “On January 27, 2025, at around 1:00 am, the FCT Police Command received a distress call regarding an abduction and assault in the Chikakore community. FCT Police operatives were quickly deployed to the scene.

“Initial investigations showed that seven unknown men, posing as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, attacked the residence. The suspects tricked the victim into opening his gate, then abducted him along with three members of his family. A neighbor who tried to intervene was injured and taken to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.”

Adeh further stated that the police had initiated a search and rescue operation aimed at recovering the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

She added, “The FCT Police Command has started a comprehensive search and rescue mission to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims and to bring the assailants to justice.
