Report gathered by YEPS News confirms that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) achieved a historic revenue generation of N21.6 trillion in 2024, surpassing its initial target of N19.4 trillion by 11.34%.
The Executive Chairman of FIRS, Zacch Adedeji, made this announcement on Thursday during the 2025 Strategic Management Retreat in Abuja. Themed “Building a High-Performing FIRS: Elevating Performance Through Collaboration and Innovation,” the retreat focused on key strategies to drive the agency’s 2025 corporate plan.
“Together, we closed the chapter of 2024 with an achievement that will forever be recorded in the history of the Federal Inland Revenue Service: the record-breaking generation of N21.6 trillion in revenue, surpassing our target of N19.4 trillion,” Adedeji stated.
He attributed this success to resilience, professionalism, and strategic leadership, emphasizing the role of people, technology, and processes in the agency’s outstanding performance.
Strategic Roadmap for 2025
Looking ahead, Adedeji stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum with a well-defined roadmap aimed at institutionalizing internal strengths for long-term resilience and operational excellence.
“Our mission for 2025 is ambitious and transformative. We aim to build a service of excellence defined by the expertise of our people, modernization of facilities, and innovative technology to enhance our processes,” he said.
To achieve this, the FIRS has outlined a strategic roadmap anchored on three critical pillars:
- Capacity Building and Training: The agency plans to equip its workforce with advanced skills and knowledge in modern tax administration through high-impact training programs aligned with global best practices.
- Infrastructure and Facility Enhancement: Investments will be made in upgrading workspaces to reflect a world-class institution, fostering productivity and operational efficiency.
- Technology and Taxpayer Experience: FIRS will expand its integrated tax administration systems, unify national collection platforms, and leverage emerging technologies to create seamless, efficient, and transparent tax processes.
“These pillars are not just ideas but actionable objectives that will be implemented across every department and operation within the service,” Adedeji added.
Report gathered by YEPS News also indicates that the National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance has set a new revenue target of N25 trillion for FIRS in the 2025 fiscal year.
