Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the late General Jeremiah Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and military administrator of the defunct Bendel State.
In a statement released on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Okpebholo described Useni’s death as a profound loss to the people and government of Edo State.
Highlighting Useni’s legacy, the governor praised his dedication to public service, particularly his efforts in advancing educational reforms and spearheading critical infrastructure development during his tenure.
“The passing of General Jeremiah Useni (retd), former military administrator of the defunct Bendel State, is a monumental loss to Edo and Delta States,” the statement read.
“General Useni served with distinction and unwavering commitment, leaving an enduring legacy that touched countless lives. His passion for justice, education reform, and infrastructure development was a hallmark of his leadership.
“He will forever be remembered as a visionary statesman, an advocate for justice, and a compassionate leader who guided our people through challenging times and laid the groundwork for the prosperity we enjoy today.”
Governor Okpebholo further emphasized the late general’s inspirational leadership, which, he said, motivated a generation of public servants and shaped the future of the region.
“On behalf of the people and government of Edo State, I extend my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his legacy continue to inspire us as we strive to build on the foundation he laid,” the governor concluded.
General Useni’s contributions to Bendel State, now Edo and Delta States, remain a significant chapter in the region’s history, cementing his place as a revered figure in public service.
