Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has announced seven significant interventions to enhance the university’s development.
This pledge follows Dangote’s recent N100 million payment to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, which restored power to the state-owned institution. The announcement was made by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Yakasai, in a statement made available to YEPS on Thursday.
According to Prof. Yakasai, the interventions were promised during a visit by the university management team to Dangote’s Lagos office to express gratitude for his ongoing support.
Aliko Dangote has committed to constructing a new Senate Building, three additional student hostel blocks, and ten senior academic staff accommodations. He also plans to upgrade the university’s water treatment plant to solve water supply issues and fund the university’s 5th convocation ceremony.
Furthermore, Dangote has reiterated his plans to provide a sustainable energy solution to the university’s electricity supply problem and pledged to supply official vehicles to the university’s Principal Officers.
The statement reads: “The Principal Officers of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, paid a courtesy visit to the University’s Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, at his office in Lagos on July 10, 2024.”
The visit was intended to thank Dangote for his intervention in settling a significant portion of the university’s electricity bill, which was facilitated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, leading to the immediate reconnection of electricity.
During the visit, the university management presented pressing issues facing the institution. In response, Dangote made the following additional pledges to support the university’s growth and development.
The university management, on behalf of the State Government, the entire university community, and the people of Kano State, expressed their deep appreciation to Alhaji (Dr.) Aliko Dangote GCON for his landmark interventions.
