The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has called on the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to extend the deadline for owners of the 762 revoked plots in Maitama, Abuja, to settle payments for their Certificates of Occupancy.

In a statement issued by Comrade James Ezema, the CNPP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, the group expressed concern over the limited two-week window provided to the affected landowners, which is set to expire on Friday. The CNPP argues that this period is insufficient given the ongoing economic difficulties in the country.

The statement reads, “We appeal to the Minister and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to show compassion and extend the deadline, especially in the spirit of the holiday season and in recognition of the nation’s current economic hardships.”

The CNPP further emphasized that an extension would offer the affected parties adequate time to meet the requirements, helping to prevent unnecessary hardship or losses.

“We hope that the Minister and the FCTA will grant an extension, providing the affected individuals and groups with sufficient time to fulfill the directive without facing undue pressure,” the statement continued.

This appeal follows the CNPP’s recent concern over the rising hunger and suffering impacting millions of Nigerians due to the challenging economic conditions.
