Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has addressed the controversy surrounding his abrupt departure from the stage during a recent performance at the Greater Lagos Countdown.
The incident occurred when a fan breached security and rushed towards the singer while he was performing. In response, Burna Boy halted his set and left the stage.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Burna Boy explained that the fan’s actions triggered his PTSD. He emphasized that he has a strict rule against fans approaching the stage during his performances and that the unexpected encounter caused him significant distress.
“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost an hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I got PTSD,” Burna Boy stated.
This incident has sparked a debate among fans and music industry professionals about artist safety and fan behavior at concerts.
