Brazilian defender Danilo Luiz da Silva has officially parted ways with Juventus after the mutual termination of his contract, both the player and the Serie A club confirmed on Monday.
“Danilo Luiz da Silva and Juventus have parted ways after five and a half years together, following a mutual termination of the player’s contract,” Juventus announced in an official statement.
During his time in Turin, the 33-year-old amassed an impressive record, securing one Serie A title, two Italian Cups, and one Italian Super Cup over 213 appearances.
A New Chapter in Brazil
According to reports from Italian media, Danilo is set to return to his homeland, Brazil, where he is expected to sign a two-year deal with Flamengo. His departure comes as his contract with Juventus was initially set to expire at the end of the season.
In an emotional farewell message shared on Instagram, Danilo wrote, “I knew this day would come sooner or later, but you’re never ready to say goodbye.”
The defender’s exit follows his diminished role at the club after coach Thiago Motta took charge this summer. Additionally, Danilo was replaced as captain by Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
Juventus Reinforcements and Injury Woes
In related developments, Portuguese defender Renato Veiga arrived in Turin on Monday for medical tests ahead of a loan move from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Juventus faces defensive challenges as Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Juventus currently sit fifth in Serie A, two points shy of a Champions League qualification spot. They are preparing to face Benfica in a crucial Champions League clash on Wednesday.
