Report gathered by YEPS News confirms that operatives of the Anambra State security outfit, Agunechemba, raided a notorious criminal hideout on Thursday at Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area.
During the operation, no fewer than 14 firearms of various brands were recovered. The security team, working in collaboration with the police, Department of State Services (DSS), military, and local vigilantes, successfully stormed the area in a coordinated effort to curb criminal activities.
A social media post from Agunechemba detailed the seized items, which included two AK-47 rifles, eight pump-action guns, four locally made pistols, three packets of cartridges containing 101 rounds, four empty AK-47 magazines, three cutlasses, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and various charms.
YEPS News further gathered that a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate was arrested during the raid. A video of the operation has since gone viral on social media, with both security personnel and residents celebrating the breakthrough.
However, efforts to obtain additional details from Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Policing, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages. Similarly, Anambra State Police Command spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that he had not been briefed on the development.
A police source, however, disclosed that the raid was a joint operation led by the Police Command based on intelligence reports. “Anambra must be free again. The governor has done a lot, and he has given us the mandate to secure the state. That’s exactly what we are doing. Those criminals must bow,” the source affirmed.
