The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued 23 kidnapped individuals from suspected bandits in the Kajuru Forest, located in Kajuru Local Government Area.

According to an official statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mansir Hassan, the rescue mission took place on February 2, 2025, following credible intelligence about the movement of armed bandits in the area.

As reported by YEPS News, the operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kajuru Division, supported by military personnel. The security forces advanced into the bush near Doka Village in Kajuru LGA, where they intercepted the bandits attempting to relocate their captives to Kajuru Forest.

During the confrontation, the security operatives inflicted heavy casualties on the criminals, forcing them to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds.

Hassan further stated that the Commissioner of Police reassured the public of continued collaboration with the military and other security agencies to combat crime and ensure lasting peace across the state.

The statement read in part:

“On February 2, 2025, acting on reliable intelligence regarding the movement of armed bandits in Kajuru, security operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kajuru Division and military personnel, advanced into the bush near Doka Village, where they encountered a gang of bandits trying to relocate with their captives to Kajuru Forest.

“During the clash, security forces inflicted severe losses on the assailants, forcing them to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds. This led to the successful rescue of 23 kidnapped victims who had earlier been reported missing from Kauru Local Government Area.

“The rescued individuals have since been reunited with their families. Meanwhile, security in the area has been intensified, with heightened surveillance and aggressive patrols to prevent further criminal activities.

“The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad PSC, assures the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents. He reiterated that the police, in line with the vision of His Excellency, Sen. Uba Sani, will continue working in collaboration with the military and other security agencies to tackle crime and maintain peace across the state.”
