2024 Hajj: First Group of Nigerian Pilgrims Arrives in Madina

The inaugural flight for the 2024 intending pilgrims from Nigeria has safely arrived in Madina, Saudi Arabia. This first flight transported prospective pilgrims from Jega and Arewa Local Government Areas of Kebbi State, along with officials from the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Many of the pilgrims expressed their gratitude towards the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, and the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, for their diligent efforts in ensuring the successful commencement of the inaugural flight.

Alhaji Hussaini Argungu, a board member of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, praised the cabin crew of the Saudi Arabian airline for their excellent hospitality, noting that passengers were well-catered for with food and other essentials during the flight.

Argungu also commended Saudi Airliners for facilitating a smooth journey and thanked Saudi Arabian authorities for providing a warm welcome to the first set of Nigerian pilgrims. He highlighted that VIP vehicles were arranged to transport the pilgrims to various five-star hotels.

He encouraged Nigerian pilgrims to make the most of their proximity to the Holy Prophet (SAW) Mosque by attending the five daily prayers, emphasizing the significant spiritual rewards. “Praying in the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Mosque earns the reward of 1,000 prayers in other mosques around the world, except for the Harami and Baitul Muqaddas mosques,” Argungu noted.

Alhaji Isa Assalafi, a member of the 2024 Hajj Committee in Kebbi, attributed the successful operations so far to the governor’s proactive support and approvals for all matters related to the Hajj. This collaborative effort has ensured a smooth start to the pilgrimage season for Kebbi State pilgrims.
